1. ORAL PROFICIENCY

GRADES K - 2 Must have A. OR B.

ATTACH MELA-O, IPT/PRE-las RESULTS

  • Massachusetts English Language Assessment - Oral (MELA-O)

  • Idea Proficiency Test (IPT) Oral

  • Pre-LAS Oral (Kindergarten only)

A. 4 or 5 on both Comprehension and Production (MELA-O) OR

B. FES (Fluent English Speaker) on IPT or Pre-LAS Oral

2. READING PROFICIENCY

GRADE 1: MUST HAVE A. / GRADE 2: MUST HAVE B. OR C.

ATTACH DRA /IPT RESULTS

  • DRA Assessment Test

  • IPT Reading Test (Grades 2-3)

  1. DRA score of 10 - 12 end of 1st Grade

B. DRA score of 18 - 20 end of 2nd Grade

C. CER (Competent English Reader) on IPT Reading test at end of 2nd Grade

3. WRITING PROFICIENCY

GRADE 1: MUST HAVE A.

GRADE 2: MUST HAVE A. AND/OR B.

ATTACH WRITING SAMPLES/IPT RESULTS

  • Writing Samples

  • IPT Writing Test (Grades 2 -3)

A. Writing sample judged as being on grade level by team of teachers

B. CEW (Competent English Writer) on IPT Writing Test

4. SCHOOL GRADES

GRADES 1 and 2: MUST HAVE A. AND B.

ATTACH MOST RECENT REPORT CARD

Report Card Grades in Math, Science, Social Studies and English Language Arts/Reading

  1. A student can function without support in core academic subjects

  2. A student must have a “Developing” or “Secure” in Reading, Writing and Math on their most recent report card.

5. TEACHER FEEDBACK

GRADES 1 and 2: MUST HAVE A.
